We found water on the basement floor coming from under the baseboard. The baseboard is MDF and some black mold was behind it. We removed the wet baseboard and cleaned up the water. There is no more water coming in at present but I'm not sure what to do now. Do I tear down the finished wall to see where the leak is coming in? During a heavy rainfall a few days ago, I saw water coming into my basement. It is an unfinished basement. I noticed 4 places that leak. We just bought this house, a bungalow, 7 years old. Before buying, we used a well expert inspection company, who missed this problem. The inspecter saw the crack line in the bottom part, and noted that this should be dealt with, by filling it, to avoid any future water seepage. It is dry. But, missed the wall tilting, and the large crack in the garage floor. (I think he did not see it in the grage corner floor). Is this a legal case against the inspection company ? Should we sue them. Practically, if this was noted, I would not buy the house. I do not need this problem. Your expert idea is appreciated. A basement crack is seen from the garage corner, which I could follow the crack line down the wall in the basment. All the basement walls are vertical level. except to the right side of the crack, in which the level eye shows the eye is in the middle of the line, tlting to the left. It means, the wall is tilting inside. I measured the distance between the drop of the vertical line from the top of the wall, to the base point of the wall meeting the floor, in question - it came to 1.75 inches. The wall height is 9ft But, looking at the same wall at a distance of 15 ft to the right, from the crack, the wall is 90 degrees vertical, and not affected by this and is not tilting at all. so the tilting is only where the crack is. One point to mention, that behind this wall is the garage, no sod, or wet soil area. Also, there is no sign of water seeping from the crack At the top part of the crack, the crack is about 1 inch, while the bottom part of the crack is less than 1/16 of an inch. I need your expert idea. We thought to support the wall from inside the basement with 2 ft base, plus 2 feet wall reaching the the top part of 9 ft. Is this going to help, and stop the tilting process again, your expert idea is needed If we need to help it by your procedure, what is the cost to this. thanks
